About the Author

Phan Van Giuong is a professor in Vietnamese studies and served as the Convenor of the Vietnamese Language and Culture program at Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia for over 18 years. He has taught Vietnamese and English since 1965. He was the founding Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Culture Studies at Hoa Sen University. Professor Phan is the author of many textbooks: Vietnamese for Beginners (1-4), Functional Vietnamese, Modern Vietnamese (1 - 4), Vietnamese for Foreign Travellers, Vietnamese Interactive Books and a series of Pocket, Concise and Compact Vietnamese-English dictionaries. He was the editor of several Vietnamese literature magazines and newspapers and awarded the Order of Australia Medal and the International Educator of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the teaching of Vietnamese language and culture. I used this Dictionary on my trip to Vietnam and it proved to be very helpful with translating numbers, ordering food, things like that. I very much like the size as it is very stout and fit easily int my pocket. Would definitely recommend over a traditional dictionary.

Uh..do not buy it.I looked at the "first pages", letter A, and I found 3 words that are translated incorrectly.Sheesh!

Initially was assigned this book by the choir director of my previous church. Found it helpful in how the musicians and choir usher in the Holy Spirit and prepare the congregation for service. Re-reading it as part of my Bible Study group sessions summer reading. Found it helpful in understanding the congregations role in ushering in the Holy Spirit through corporate praise and worship. This book is versatile enough to split into sections and use for various groups or read the entire book to help with your understanding of why we do what we do in worship. Although it was difficult to present this book to the group, because of some preconceived ideas about worship, I think we are all benefiting from the information. This book allows you to take what you need, and can process for yourself without being preachy. I highly recommend it.

My husband and I are worship Leaders at our church and we have been diving deeper into worship. We were recommended this book by a fellow praise and worship Leader in our area and we absoluetly love this book. This was our first worship book purchase and it was such a great one. The first few chapters really challenged everything we thought about worship and gave biblical truths we now apply and teach to our worship team what we have learned from reading Bob Sorges bool. I would highly recommend this book to any leader in the church that wants to further their worship ministry.

I originally purchased this book some twenty years ago while studying worhsip with some friends in upstate NY (southern tier - Olean, Jamestown area) and it is just as fascinating now as it was then, and it sticks! Worship done right never changes...BECAUSE OF WHO HE IS! Yes, we have different styles, different expressions, etc. BUT GOD..............enough said. Those who haven't purchased this really need to have it in their libraries....should be required reading for all those engaged as Worship Leader/Pastor. PRICELESS! I would have paid $50 for this if I needed to. All of Bob Sorge's books are just this in-depth and I'm convinced you can't read his material and not be changed or re-think how you do things.

This workbook is really good. It helps you remember what you read. Sort of test your memory and I love it. I read the book over 20 years ago and this workbook wasn't out at that time, at least I didn't know it. I love this extra feature with the newer book that I just purchased and am reading. Make sure to get the workbook and the book. This is good for discussion and a nice selection if you have a bookclub.

This book along with the workbook are the best written discussion of modern Praise & Worship. Every church should offer this as a small group course.

I'm a new worship leader and wanted to start off in the right direction by learning what God expects from us during praise and worship. This book is not only clear to read, but fun to read! It seems like every few pages I find myself giving God praise, smiling throughout, and just feeling good because I'm learning so much. I recommend this book to anyone who is just starting out and i'm sure there's plenty in here for people who have been leading worship for years too.

I enjoyed it just as much as my toddlers.

Good text book for those wanting basic legal information about Tort Law. Broken down by the different categories of liability. Uses case law to illustrate points. Provides information (elements) needed by plaintiff and strategies used by the defense. Book was written by attorneys specifically for paralegals so wont teach the reader how to practice law, but how the law works in liability cases. Very fast and easy to read, yet also informative.

Tort Law provides so much information in preparing a case. Although its required reading for a class, it also a great guide to how tort law works for the average citizen.The case subjects are great in helping the reader get a better understanding of the issues.

The overall book was fine. Information provide was relevant and helpful scenarios throughout the book. I rented a used book so there was writing and highlighting in the book but not enough to distract me from the material.

Very good short book about the 1962 Mets. They were probably the worst team in MLB history. Breslin takes a light hearted look at them and look at what brought it all about. Any baseball fan should like this and especilly New York Met fan.

The Mets. It's a franchise that has frustrated and delighted fans for decades. From the early days of record losses to amazing series wins and back again. It's a rollercoaster ride. This book focuses on the beginning, the 40 wins and 120 losses days. A retrospective for Mets fans that could elicit smiles or a reminder of those miserable days. It was a rough start with some colorful characters but the Mets gathered a loyal and patient fan base. Part of the reason for that might be the Brooklyn Dodgers fans who experienced disappointment and elation for many years and who were starved for a National League team to call their own. It's a quick read and well wotrth the time.

this is a short book by Jimmy Breslin about the 1962 NY Mets. This was the first year of their existence and they were comically inept as recounted in the pages of this book. They ended up losing 120 games which is a record. The team managed by 73 yr. old Casey Stengel , was made up of players who were castoffs from other teams and veteran players who had seen their better days. The Mets filled a void in New York after the Dodger and Giants had left and this team through their play and colorful characters won many New Yorkers over. Breslin has a talent for relating humorous stories, I particularly liked where he wrote that the Mets were going to give a Birthday cake to their first baseman Marvelous Marv Thornberry but decided against it because they were afraid he 'd drop it. While there are no pictures in this paperback edition, there is an appendix listing the 1962 Mets by position and it is interesting that one of the 1st baseman-Gil Hodges would become the Mets manager leading them to the World Series in 1969 with another member of the '62 team playing 1st base- Ed Kranepool. This is a great story of the Mets first year. As Tug McGraw once said " you gotta believe."

Breslin was a fantastic writer and he was never better than chronicling the story of the 1962 New York Mets, by most accounts, the worst team in MLB history. The National League had abandoned New York City in 1957 and five years later a new franchise was born made up mostly of cast offs from the other NL teams. All clubs had to give up two men each to the new Mets and Colt 45s.Rajah worked from his home base in Chicago. Seeing American League games wasn't a problem as the White Sox played mostly at night, but all of the Cubs games were in the afternoon, and this was cutting heavily into Hornsby's time for racetrack plunging, a real annoyance for him.Here's a comment about other clubs' possible castoffs that Hornsby made one Wrigley Field afternoon:"They say we're going to get players out of a grab bag. From what I seen, it's going to be a garbage bag. Ain't nobody got fat off eating out of the garbage, and that's just what the Mets is going to have to do. This is terrible. I mean, this is really going to be bad."So tell us what you REALLY think, Raj!Was he ever right! Their first season, the NY Mets lost 120 games, doing so in the most creatively colorful way in baseball history.On the occasion of his 73rd birthday, manager Casey Stengel drew thoughtfully on a cigarette, sipped a Manhattan at a hotel bar and recalled a particularly shocking game. He told of bringing a catcher up from Syracuse who could possibly control action on the basepath against a steal-intensive Dodgers club:"...I don't want to be embarrassed. So we bring him and he is going to throw out these runners."We come in there and you never seen anything like it in your life. I find I got a defensive catcher, only who can't catch the ball. The pitcher throws. Wild pitch. Throws again. Passed ball. Throws again. Oops! The ball drops out of the glove. And all the time I am dizzy on account of these runners running around in circles on me and so forth."Makes a man think. You look up and down the bench and you have to say to yourself, 'Can't anybody here play this game?' "
